Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 July 2026
RentTrust ("we", "us") provides tenant-qualification infrastructure for rental agencies in Luxembourg. This policy explains what personal data we process, why, and the rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Who we are (Data Controller)
RentTrust operates renttrust.online. For questions about your data, contact us at privacy@renttrust.online. Where an agency uses RentTrust to process applications, that agency and RentTrust act as joint or independent controllers depending on the activity.
Data we collect
- Application data you provide: name, e-mail, phone (optional), move-in date, household composition, income band (never the exact figure), employment type, guarantor status, pets and smoking preference.
- Verification data: a one-time code sent to your e-mail to confirm ownership.
- Documents you choose to upload after being shortlisted (e.g. proof of income, ID).
- Technical data: strictly necessary cookies and security logs.
Why we process it (Legal bases)
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for submitting an application and any optional analytics.
- Contract / pre-contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) to connect you with the agency.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) for security and preventing abuse.
Data minimisation
We deliberately collect income as a band rather than an exact number, and we do not request any documents until an agency shortlists you. Nothing sensitive is shared before that point.
Where your data lives
All personal data is stored within the European Union (EU data residency). We do not transfer your data outside the EEA without appropriate safeguards.
How long we keep it
Application data is retained only as long as needed for the rental process and then deleted or anonymised. You can request deletion at any time.
Sharing
We share your application with the agency whose link you used. We use trusted processors (hosting, e-mail delivery) under data-processing agreements. We never sell your data.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing, and request portability of your data. To exercise these rights, e-mail privacy@renttrust.online. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Luxembourg supervisory authority (CNPD).
Security
We use row-level security, encryption in transit, one-time e-mail verification and stage-gated document access to protect your data.
Changes
We may update this policy; the effective date above will change and material updates will be highlighted in the app.
